We had a most excellent time playing at The Olive Bistro and Lounge in Jasper, AB. They know what they're doing in the food and beverage department (Basil, cucumber spiked lemonade? Who thinks this stuff up?). Steph and Darryl also treat their musical guests like gold and it makes for an enjoyable experience all around. Thanks for being you.
-The crowd was full of really great listeners. Jager Bombs were jokingly discussed over the mic and Jager Bombs appeared, almost like magic. We would warn other roots/folk musicians that playing this particular genre of music jacked up on Red Bull and Jager can be problematic.
-We're pretty alright when it comes to making new friends. Charlie and Jenny from Sheffield, England even invited us over the pond. We already bought our plane tickets. We hope they don't regret the rash decision fueled by alcohol.
-After the main event we had an impromtu jam with local songstress Colleen, who is Janis Joplin reincarnate. Hair Panties was requested twice.
-The Mackeys from FSJ appeared out of the blue as a happy surprise. It is always comforting somehow to see familiar faces when we are far from home.
-Following myriads of industrial vehicles down the magic undivided highway that is AB-40 en route to the gig. Naomi's patience is not her virtue and she does NOT do well at the back of the line. Much like Ricky Bobby, she likes to go fast.
-We missed our chance to try the Olive's truffle oil poutine. Ermagerd, I just salivated on the keyboard.
-We were that annoying band that stays up too late, playing music too loud on the roof top patio while other guests (who were probably going kayaking/hiking/whitewater rafting the next day) tried to rest. We are super sorry. We are jerks.
-Remember the Jager Bombs? They made our morning hell...totally worth it.
